Hey, Stylish!

Florals are so expected to be worn in summer, but there are thousands of ways to wear it unexpectedly. I am a big fan of Alessandro Michele’s politics toward new collections of Gucci house: a dash of vintage vibes, modern cuts and print on print, especially florals on florals or florals on an animal pattern. As you know, I like matching things and for me combining botanical print is the optimal solution for the unconventional way to wear print. I was inspired by a couple of gorgeous examples from the runway:

The Old New Story of Kimono

Hey Stylish!

The story of the kimono has always intrigued Western world and took many forms in the way it is adapted in nowadays wear. We have seen many examples of the new silhouettes and textiles of many variations of the kimonos. I am actually a big fan of the traditional kimonos that are universally flattering. If you want to adapt more wearable look you can mix it with slip dresses (like I did) or with jeans for a more casual, eclectic look. As usual, I leave you with the freshest runway inspirations:

The Exaggeration

 Hey, Stylish!

How to wear Dolce and Gabanna without actually wearing it? Here is the formula: all black+ feminine cuts+exaggerated forms and silhouettes. I think the third variable in this equation is the most important. I am a big fan of good drama, so exaggerated detailing can bring some new feelings to simple clothes. Just take my look: a simple black sandals are upgraded with a feather trim,  a sweater is detailed with bows and my glasses are embellished with flowers- simple forms spiced with exagerated detailing.

As usual, some of my observations and inspirations. This time from D&G:

Hey, Stylish!

For almost a decade matching accessories or assemblies were considered a bad taste. As many mismatching things that harmoniously are put together the more stylish it was. However, with the adaptation of the aesthetics of the 80s, matchings sets are making a comeback. I am a big fan of how Jeremy Scott does it for Moschino and Dolce and Gabanna for their last collection. The key here, to create a story behind the outfit and keep it within a theme. I will leave you with inspiration from Moschino and DG:

Unmixable Mix

Hey Stylish!

Today I decided to mix my  preppy heels with a quirky vintage jumpsuit. If you look at the street fashion trends recently, they all promote playfulness and ability to mix low with high, new with old, color with monochrome. So if you want to give some of your favorite pieces second life, just mix it with unpredictable item: sportswear with heels, puffy skirt with sneakers or leather jacket with lingerie dress. And of course some denim inspirations from different decades:

Hey Stylish!

The summer is almost over and I definitely need to talk about must-have shoes of this season: gladiator sandals.  Gladiator sandals with extravagant design could become a statement piece of the outfit, so keep it simple. Monochromatic and neutral colors would be great decision for picking up gladiator sandals since they “cut” the proportions of the leg and potentially can make your legs look more corpulent.  Some high-fashion inspiration for you from Alexander McQueen:

DRAMA

Hey Stylish!

One of the hottest summer trends are ruffles. The fluffier, bigger and dramatic they are, the more modern they are. However, you need to take in consideration proportions. More volume on the top, less volume on the bottom and vice versa. Also keep in mind that ruffles play a role of accessories, so you don’t need to add supercilious elements to your cohesive outfit.

Some inspirations from Gucci and Valentino for you:
