Hey, Stylish!

You know that I am in love with the kimono trend recently because the kimono converts any outfit into relaxed, effortlessly chic one. Even at the hottest day in San Francisco (which is almost a nonsense) my vintage kimono was keeping me cold because of its silk and cotton blend. I would really recommend finding your perfect kimono in the local vintage stores because the quality of them is much higher than the modern ones. You can always find kimonos in a robe section in almost any thrift shop. For some runway inspirations, check out Gucci and Alice+Olivia:

White Before and After Labor Day

Hey Stylish!

All we know the stigma that one should not wear white after Labor day, which is a complete false. I truly believe that fashion right now has no rules, gender or boundaries. So please, wear white and all other colors whenever or whatever you want ( maybe just avoid wearing white at someone else’s wedding at least). In today’s look I was not only inspired by my favorite color+ texture technique ( white+metal) but also by the pleated skirt trend that is so hot this season.  Wear the pleated skirts with the bulky sweaters or the longline classic coats to enhance the gentle nature of pleats or go crazy with texture as I did in my look. Here are some inspirations for you:

Unmixable Mix

Hey Stylish!

Today I decided to mix my  preppy heels with a quirky vintage jumpsuit. If you look at the street fashion trends recently, they all promote playfulness and ability to mix low with high, new with old, color with monochrome. So if you want to give some of your favorite pieces second life, just mix it with unpredictable item: sportswear with heels, puffy skirt with sneakers or leather jacket with lingerie dress. And of course some denim inspirations from different decades:

Hey Stylish!

The summer is almost over and I definitely need to talk about must-have shoes of this season: gladiator sandals.  Gladiator sandals with extravagant design could become a statement piece of the outfit, so keep it simple. Monochromatic and neutral colors would be great decision for picking up gladiator sandals since they “cut” the proportions of the leg and potentially can make your legs look more corpulent.  Some high-fashion inspiration for you from Alexander McQueen:

Hi Stylish!

I am obsessed with Advanced Style blog. If you have never heard about Iris Apfel and Valerie Von Sabel you definitely need to check out this blog that captures bold and elegant style of older New Yorkers. It is interesting that the older fashionistas have more courage to mix prints and wear bright accessories. That courage makes their style unique and unrepeatable; what is impossible to say about “style” perception that we have nowadays. I feel that we assume that “style” is a synonym for “hype”. That is why Pinterest and Instagram are full of Kardashian family clones that look the same.

My today’s look was inspired by the way Advance style ladies mix prints, according to certain rules:

1.Bolder=better

2.Fabric has to match (wool with heavier textures, silk or chiffon with lighter)

3. Add a resting point ( a part of your outfit where an eye can rest, in my case the rest point are my shoes)

Enjoy some inspirations from Advanced Style:

Translucent Transperency

4.jpg2.JPG1.JPG3.JPG

Hey stylish!

Summer is definitely time to experiment with colors and textures and learn how to mix them. This season transparent and translucent fabrics is huge trend that would be around for next seasons too. However, not everyone has a courage to wear the translucent top or skirt, and let’s be honest it is not appropriate for work or school. In this look I am wearing my favorite vintage over sized top with mom’s jeans to make it look fresh and sporty rather than “aggressively sexy'” that transparency of fabric can create. I would transition this look to more appropriate for school or any public event by adding a camisole underneath or a crop top. I enjoy this new trend of transparent translucency that could be so translucently transparent!

Here are some inspirations for you from these season translucent trends:

Hi Stylish!

If anyone still here, I want to apologize for a long break. Since I have a little bit of free time during  summer, I will update on the outfits and trends I found interesting and worth talking about.

Back to the trends. Spring is time for floral prints, which is an obvious, cheesy way to update your look for spring or summer.  However, Sp16/SS16 trends are requiring abstract  representation of floral as well as hyper realistic.  You can find photo realistic floral prints in  Jenny Packman’s spring collection:

more abstract, almost flat and very “patchwork” in Gucci’s:

Gucci-2016-Spring-Summer-Mens-Campaign-003

and very feminine, watercolor florals in  Simone Rocha’s:

So even if you think that florals are predictable for summer, the representation of it is quite different and changes from season to season.
